Hi! So, I saw that you’re an Israeli, and as an internationalist I couldn’t stop myself from asking: How are things in Israel right now? I’ve seen everywhere how things are going on in Palestine but almost no one talks about Israel. So how is it? Thanks in advance!

cheeriokurts:

Hi! firstly thank you so much for your concern! Even though obviously it’s much better to be on the Israeli side in this situation (Israel protects its residents with the Iron Dome while Hamas is using a budget meant for the citizens to build terror tunnels so Palestinians live in horrible poverty) , it’s not fun and games here.

Fortunately, I live in the center of Israel so I only have to reach the bomb shelter about twice or thrice a day (they usually fire rockets at the center of Israel early in the morning and at night). Moreover, I have 90 seconds to reach a bomb shelter (more than enough if you’re in your apartment, a decent amount of time if you’re outside), while the people in the south have only 15 (!!!!!) seconds (I recommend watching this video explaining how hard it is to find shelter in 15 seconds)

So, basically I’m not allowed (I’m 16 and my parents control me blah blah blah) to use public transportation because there’s the risk of a suicide attack and I’m not allowed to go to any place that does not have a bomb shelter. As a citizen of the center of Israel, I am fortunate that I can go on with my life even with the shadow of the rockets and sirens. That is DEFINITELY NOT the situation in the south. In there, they are dozens of sirens a day and people have only 15 seconds to find shelter if there’s a siren, which means they pretty much can’t even leave the bomb shelters. Even though the iron dome intercepts most of the rockets, people have been killed and injured.
